Necromancy Pet and Aura Removal Thoughts
Tags
At around 53 million Necromancy experience, I found Omen the Necromancy pet while doing high level rituals tonight. This marked my third combat skilling pet, which unlocked the Jack of Blades title and associated achievement. It had been so long since I last received a pet that I sort of forgot about skilling pets.
I’ve been making steady progress on Necromancy each night. Lately, I’ve been trying to reach a million experience each night. Though for the past few days, I’ve been doing around 2-3 million experience per day. My current goal is 115 Necromancy, which I should be able to reach by next week. I still have around 11 million bonus experience.
Aura Removal Thoughts
In today’s RuneScape roadmap reveal, it was announced that between spring and summer of 2026, auras will be removed from the game. As a long time member, with the current information released, I find this update troubling. On one hand, I understand it takes considerable membership time to unlock all of the auras through the loyalty points system. With that said, as someone who has dedicated the time and points to unlock the various auras, it feels a bit unfair to have the auras removed.
With the removal of the auras, perhaps players could be refunded per aura. The refund could be in loyalty points or RuneCoins. The problem with loyalty points is that without auras to purchase, Solomon’s Store doesn’t have much worth purchasing outside of cosmetics. I unlocked all of the top tier auras long ago, and I still have nearly three million loyalty points. If a refund occurs, I would rather receive RuneCoins unless the loyalty points system is rolled into the modern shop in-game.
Player-Owned Housing Update
On a positive note, it was also announced in the roadmap that the Construction skill would be receiving an overhaul. Along with an increase to level 120, this update will include major updates to player-owned houses. I’ve neglected my house for some time, so I’m curious to see how housing in the game can become important again.
